Art, workshops, family activities and live music come together as Breakfast Garden returns to Ruda Śląska for another free summer gathering.
Summer weekends in Ruda Śląska are designed to be enjoyed outdoors, and the Breakfast Garden offers plenty of reasons to spend a Saturday morning in the ŚTI Garden. Returning on 25 July, the free event combines art, crafts, live demonstrations, educational activities and family entertainment before giving way to an afternoon concert by the KWK Pokój Brass Orchestra.
Rather than focusing on a single theme, Breakfast Garden brings together local organisations, artists, educators and community groups, creating an informal event where visitors are encouraged to browse, learn new skills and meet the people behind many of the city's cultural and social initiatives.
Art, Crafts and Local Creativity
Visitors will have the opportunity to meet painters Grażyna Omelko and Grzegorz Haiski, while Janusz Urbański will present intricate models created from matches, demonstrating a craft that requires remarkable patience and precision.
Creative workshops throughout the morning include bead jewellery making, handicrafts prepared by the Rudzki University of the Third Age, colourful braids and children's face decorations in the Fairy Tale Garden, along with theatre activities led by Teatr Oblubieńczy.
Activities for All Ages
Families will find plenty to keep younger visitors occupied, with games organised by Cosinus, language activities from English Best, and educational displays introducing the biodiversity of Polish forests through the local ZHP scouting movement.
Visitors interested in wellbeing can join a yoga session on the grass led by Bożena Loda-Fila from Health Mania, while beauty specialists from DepilConcept and Oriflame will offer demonstrations and advice throughout the event.
Elsewhere, Moje Pszczoły will introduce visitors to the world of bees through a mobile hive and displays explaining the importance of pollinators, while TOZ FAUNA will share information about animal welfare and responsible pet care.
Collectors and music enthusiasts will also find specialist displays, including Stanisław Mazur's collection and an exhibition of accordions presented by Józef Osmenda.
Food and refreshments will be available throughout the morning from Druid Pub, which will be serving the Breakfast Garden menu during the event.
A Musical Tradition Continues
When the Breakfast Garden programme concludes, visitors are invited to remain in the ŚTI Garden for a free open-air performance by the KWK Pokój Brass Orchestra.
Founded in 1922, the orchestra has accompanied generations of miners, their families and the wider community. Established during a period when expressions of Polish identity carried significant risks, the musicians raised funds for their own instruments and uniforms, building an ensemble that survived war, changing industries and several mining mergers.
Today, under the direction of Jacek Kampa, who has led the orchestra since 1993, the ensemble continues to perform across the region while preserving one of Ruda Śląska's most enduring musical traditions.
The concert provides an opportunity to experience a living part of the city's cultural heritage in the same setting that has welcomed visitors throughout the morning.
